INGLEWOOD, CA (2-minute read) — A Tuesday morning police pursuit in Inglewood led to a multi-vehicle crash that injured six individuals, including two children, and resulted in two detentions. The incident began when officers from the Culver City Police Department attempted to take an armed carjacking suspect into custody. The suspect, who was driving with a woman and two children inside the vehicle, fled from authorities.

According to Culver City PD, the suspect did not drive recklessly or at high speeds, but did run a red light at the intersection of Centinela and La Brea avenues, causing a crash with another vehicle around 10:12 a.m. The suspect’s vehicle, a white BMW sedan, sustained severe front-end damage. A silver Acura SUV involved in the crash ended up on the sidewalk, as captured in video footage from the Citizen App.

Multiple Injuries but No Fatalities

The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the crash within four minutes and assessed six patients at the scene. Fortunately, none of the injuries were considered life-threatening. Among the injured were two children who were quickly removed from the suspect’s vehicle and evaluated by paramedics.

Bystander video captured the tense moments when police detained two individuals at gunpoint, adding a dramatic visual layer to an already serious event. It is currently unclear what charges the suspects will face, but authorities confirmed that both individuals were taken into custody without further incident.

This incident underscores the unpredictable nature of police pursuits, even those that appear to be low-speed. Drivers fleeing law enforcement pose a significant risk to public safety, particularly in dense urban areas like Inglewood.

Safety Tip: Never assume a low-speed police chase is harmless—situational awareness is key, and pedestrians or drivers should always yield space when sirens or law enforcement activity is present.
