Spotted: No Concealable Firearms Sign At Local Walgreens
SHARE

I recently noticed a “No Concealable Weapons Allowed” sign at a Walgreens location, which left me questioning whether it’s a store-specific rule or a company-wide stance. As a result, I’ve decided to stop shopping there, and I’m asking fellow gun owners what they think.

SOUTH CAROLINA (2-minute read) — On a recent trip to Walgreens, I noticed something that stopped me in my tracks—a sign on the front entrance clearly stating, “NO CONCEALABLE WEAPONS ALLOWED.” It wasn’t just a suggestion—it was a hard “no” to anyone lawfully carrying a concealed firearm.

As someone who responsibly carries, the sign felt like a slap in the face. I couldn’t help but wonder: Is this part of Walgreens’ corporate policy, or is it a rule set by this specific location? The store didn’t offer any explanation, and I haven’t been able to move from one Walgreens to the next to check out their firearm signage.

While businesses have the legal right to prohibit firearms on their property, those of us who carry do so with the intent of protecting ourselves and others, not causing harm. Signs like this create confusion—and sometimes even frustration—for law-abiding citizens who simply want to exercise their Second Amendment rights.

Concealed Carry Policies Vary by Business

The law on concealed carry varies from state to state, and individual stores often create their own rules. Some companies post signs that legally carry weight, depending on the state’s signage requirements. Others post signs more as a deterrent or statement than enforceable policy. Unfortunately, this patchwork approach leaves concealed carriers guessing.

It’s worth noting that large chains like Walgreens have, in the past, faced scrutiny for their vague or shifting policies on firearms. After seeing this sign, I’ve decided that Walgreens is no longer a place where I feel welcome. I’ll be supporting businesses that respect my right to carry responsibly.

Have you seen a similar sign at your local Walgreens? Do you think this is a broader company stance, or just this particular store making its own call? I’d love to hear what others in the concealed carry community have experienced.

Safety Tip: Always research a business’s firearm policy before entering, especially in states where posted signage holds legal weight. Respect private property rules, but also be prepared to choose alternatives that align with your values.
