Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito was treated for dehydration at a hospital after a previously undisclosed March 20 incident in Philadelphia, sources told Fox News.

He was not admitted and returned home the same night without complications.

Alito, 76, attended a Federalist Society dinner that evening and reported feeling lightheaded, prompting his security detail to recommend a precautionary hospital visit, sources said.

Two sources who were at the dinner said the justice has had no issues since. One source said there was no drama and that Alito did not faint.

Because he and his wife were set to drive back to their home in Northern Virginia, they stopped at a hospital as a precaution. Alito was treated for dehydration and returned home without incident, the source said.

Alito was in Philadelphia that day for a Federalist Society event honoring his jurisprudence.

He did not attend the morning or afternoon panels, but he traveled to the city with his security detail for a pre-dinner reception and an evening dinner attended by several federal judges, including many who had previously clerked for him.

Earlier that day, the Supreme Court released opinions from the bench, though Alito was not present in the courtroom. He did, however, attend the court’s closed-door conference with his colleagues immediately afterward.

After the dinner, Alito agreed to seek medical attention as a precaution at the recommendation of his security detail, sources said.

Alito has since been seen on the bench and appeared normal, with no issues noted in the days following the incident.

He turned 76 on Wednesday, the day of the Supreme Court arguments on birthright citizenship, attended by President Donald Trump. Observers said he looked his usual self.

Alito was nominated to the Supreme Court in 2005 by President George W. Bush and confirmed in 2006.

He is the second-oldest member of the court, behind Justice Clarence Thomas, who is 77.
